An Ounce of Prevention
Accurate, cost-effective localization begins with anticipating and preventing problems.
Rubric has developed three powerful tools for evaluating and testing your project files to make sure they're ready for internationalization and localization.
RubricAnalyzer™: the key to project scoping
RubricAnalyzer expedites project scoping, assesses project requirements, and detects bugs before localization gets under way. Its ability to automatically generate reports on project files—regardless of their source format—accelerates the assessment process and saves you money.
RubricAnalyzer™ can:
- Identify localization coding issues in source files
- Automatically identify duplication within a file set
- Calculate the difference in content between revisions of content files
- Transport text and graphics from one update or release to another
- Identify missing and extraneous graphics
- Verify issues of graphics sizing
- Check fonts and color palettes used in graphics
Rubric source file testing
Rubric source file testing uses a wide range of industry-standard and Rubric-specific technologies to separate build issues from localization issues and reduce "garbage-in, garbage-out" problems in localization projects.
We begin debugging the build environment while translations are being completed. In this way, we're able to identify and gather missing components before it's too late. Rubric's source file testing also helps you avoid the expense of reworking your product design for every localization target.
Rubric L10nInspector: resolving localization issues up front
Before your source file set can be localized from English into other languages, it must pass the localization test. Rubric L10nInspector creates pseudotranslations — unrefined translations that accurately mimic the final product — to quickly identify and resolves roadblocks to localization readiness, including:
- Hard-coded strings
- Text-expansion issues
- Concatenation problems
- Build/run problems in the target OS
- Display issues caused by the addition of apostrophes and quotation marks in UI strings
Because we use Rubric L10nInspector early in the process, we save you time and money that otherwise would be spent in rework.
