Rubric Opens Offices in San Diego

Brings localization excellence to SoCal's high-tech hub

June 17, 2009 — Edinburgh, San Diego, Silicon Valley — Rubric, providers of localization expertise to the high-tech industry, have opened offices in San Diego, a vibrant and rapidly growing hub for technology companies.

"Making software and other information technologies ready for foreign markets is not trivial," said Ian Henderson, CEO of Rubric. "Combinations of linguistic and technology expertise are essential in creating demand with foreign customers. That is where Rubric shines, having localized complex products for many tech companies around the world."

In opening offices in San Diego, Rubric is also expanding its West Coast presence. Long a fixture in Silicon Valley, Rubric is expanding from the center of computer and Internet technology innovation to San Diego and soon into Microsoft's Seattle region.

"Technology companies have always been our favorite customers," said Françoise Spurling, Rubric's COO. "Complex systems on which many people rely require perfect translations and user interface changes. Rubric has always delivered the highest linguistic and software quality in the industry, thanks to our use of in-country subject matter experts."

Experts in technical subjects as well as local language are essential for making technology products acceptable in foreign markets.  Rubric's network of in-country translators and computer technology professionals speed the software globalization process while achieving perfect localizations.

"Our local San Diego sales team is experienced in supporting the technology community," said Henderson. "They bring to Rubric years of knowledge in guiding software, life science and telecommunications companies over the hurdles of making products and content work as well overseas as in the States."

Spurling related how Rubric uses software technology to keep software localization costs under control. "We have developed custom tools for automating many of the manual localization processes. This reduces human labor and human error, and thus localization costs. We have SaaS application customers who update their products constantly, so our automation of the process keeps them profitable."

Rubric also announced the appointment of Jeff Kiser, a localization industry veteran, as Rubric's new Director of Sales. Based in the San Diego office, Kiser brings nearly a decade of experience into the Rubric team, having been a project manager for Berlitz GlobalNET and later Bowne Global Solutions. He comes to Rubric from Moravia, where he was a Sr. Project Manager, Business Development Manager, and Sr. Account Manager.

"As the new Director of Sales for Rubric, my goal is to bridge the gap between what is known as a standard localization process and the Rubric approach," said Kiser. "Rubric understands that every client is different, so why should your localization experience be like everyone else's? We believe there are measures Rubric can take to improve your localization experience and save you project cost at the same time. You benefit from our custom approach."
