With worldwide demand for globalized Web applications on the rise, Rubric has announced the availability of its newly updated Web Technologies Localization Handbook. The publication is being offered free of charge to companies as a resource for the development of world-ready Web applications, on-line documentation, Web sites and other Web-based products and services.
New sections added to the handbook include JSP and .NET localization. Sections covering other Web technologies have been updated to reflect the current state of the technologies and their corresponding localization-related issues as well. Overall, the handbook covers technologies such as XML, Java, JSP, ASP, .NET, HTML, XHTML and Unicode.
Internet usage by non-English speakers has reached close to 60% of global on-line users. Forrester Research forecasts that global on-line trade will expand to US$12.8 trillion by 2006, with roughly US$6 trillion generated from outside the US. Clearly, there are opportunities for companies able to tap into global markets through on-line channels.
The rapid growth of eBusiness is not limited to a few industries, but rather is affecting a variety of markets across the spectrum. In order to remain competitive, businesses are experiencing major shifts to the Internet. Successful corporations are selling their products and services over the Web, reinventing their supply chains, and leveraging the Web to streamline processes and increase productivity. Consequently, it is critical for a localization manager to understand the fundamental localization issues surrounding Web technologies. Rubric's Web Technologies Localization Handbook defines these technologies and describes development issues that result in an efficient localization process.
Rubric's Web Technologies Localization Handbook is one in a series of on-line publications offered by Rubric to assist companies in their development of code that facilitates localization, eliminates rework and reduces time-to-market of international products and services.
