Rubric, a leading provider of localization and translation services, today announced that Jessica Rathke, Director of Business Development, was recently named to serve on the Austin Community College Localization Generalist Certificate Program advisory board.
The Austin Community College's program in localization is designed for students and professionals desiring to develop or strengthen important skills necessary to compete internationally in Information Technology. This certificate program includes courses in general localization concepts, translation memory and machine translation, character sets and coding issues, world languages, quality assurance, project management, and localization tools, and writing for international markets. The long-term goal is to broaden the curriculum to include advance courses in each of the core areas.
Rathke, who has 10 years of experience in the localization industry, and other advisory board members help establish and validate the curriculum, suggest changes to courses and/or course formats, student and instructor recruitment, and provide other feedback based on industry experience and needs of the market.
"I am pleased to have been selected to serve on the advisory board with some of the most respected people in the industry," said Rathke. "Rubric is firmly committed to raising the awareness of our industry, attracting new people to the industry, broadening the skillsets of people currently working in localization, and providing them with an educational resource to acquire the skills they need."
