Wednesday, August 25, 1999

The e-commerce market is growing rapidly, and Rubric is soaring right along with it as the localization company assists various e-commerce technology market leaders with their global expansion. Rubric is localizing e-commerce solutions in areas such as transaction processing, site development, and digital rights management for Europe and Asia. In addition, the company is actively investing engineering and testing resources in further streamlining the localization process for e-commerce solutions.

Revenues in the worldwide Internet commerce application market soared 154% to $444 million in 1998. In 1999, they will jump another 280% to nearly $1.7 billion, according to the IDC report Internet Commerce Software Applications Market Review and Forecast, 1998-2003.

"We see e-commerce as an important market with unique localization needs," said Tom Shapiro, VP of Sales & Marketing at Rubric. "The dynamic nature of the Internet and global nature of e-commerce present many engineering and cultural challenges that change as the technology evolves. We pride ourselves on meeting these challenges and in providing a 100% reliable localization solution for our customers."

Leveraging its e-commerce localization knowledge-base, Rubric was a key contributor to the Localization section of the Software & Information Industry Association's (SIIA) white paper A Guide to Global E-Commerce: Issues to consider when selling internationally over the Internet. The white paper was recently released as a joint project by SIIA's Global and Internet divisions, of which Rubric is a member.

Rubric is a software, documentation, and Web site localization company for the IT (information technology) industry.
