Multilingual Computing & Technology: August/September 1999
In its August/September 1999 issue, Multilingual Computing & Technology magazine quoted Rubric's Tom Shapiro, VP of Sales & Marketing, in the column "VIEWPOINTS - Quotes from Industry Leaders".
In response to the question, "What is the demand for localization and internationalization engineers?", Shapiro answered:
"Demand for engineers is strong and continually grows. One of the main reasons for the demand is that localization requires process management in order to ensure quality and reliability in a sustainable manner. The necessary processes are complex and require increasing amounts of engineering input in order to automate them. Compounding the issue is the quickening pace of corporate globalization, which necessitates the development of truly global, digital workflow solutions and thus hastens the need for internationally oriented engineering resources. In addition, technologies are evolving in many different directions and in ever greater complexity. It is impossible for individuals to keep track of all developments in detail. The result is that more engineers are required, each specializing in a particular technology."
