Veteran of Project Management to Run Production at Rubric South Africa
Rubric Hiring to Meet Demand in South Africa
Rubric , a provider of localisation services to the technology and publishing industry for the past 15 years, has hired its first Production Director for Rubric South Africa. Anthea Oosthuizen, a veteran project manager who comes to Rubric from Oxford University Press Southern Africa, will manage all operations at Rubric South Africa.
The localisation provider is expanding capacity at its South Africa office in order to meet increased demand in the publishing and technology industries.
"I am delighted to have joined Rubric South Africa, as it is a distinctive localisation provider with a wealth of experience in the South African localisation industry,” said Oosthuizen. “My immediate focus is to expand Rubric South Africa’s offering to clients by leveraging the technologies and expertise provided by Rubric International. In this way, Rubric South Africa is uniquely positioned to offer maximum value to its clients and their end-users. I look forward to being part of this team."
As publishing manager at Oxford University Press Southern Africa, Oosthuizen was instrumental in establishing Oxford as market leader in key markets. She led the development of source content and translation into all of South Africa’s official languages in a number of key projects that grew Oxford’s market share substantially. Prior to Oxford University Press, Oosthuizen worked for a distance learning provider, specialising in the provision of distance-learning materials to adult learners. Her initial focus was project management of source content. Later, Oosthuizen drew on her project management expertise to streamline operations and improve service delivery to customers.…
Last year, while with Oxford University Press Southern Africa, Oosthuizen led a major localisation project, translating 11 million words into the 10 South African languages in 90 days. Rubric South Africa was instrumental in completing the Oxford University Press project in record time. This was made possible by intensive training of Rubric translators in localization technologies, and by expanding their internet access. Rubric and Oxford University Press told their story of the successful project in South African translation last October at Localization World Santa Clara.
