Translators without Borders: A Worthy Cause

By Ian Henderson, CEO of Rubric

Recently Rubric proudly became a Gold Sponsor of Translators without Borders whose mission is to support humanitarian work around the world by providing free translations.  Rubric has been an active supporter of Translators without Borders since its founder, Lori Thicke, expanded the oranization last year after the Haiti earthquake.  Up until now our support has principally been through the labors of Françoise, who is one of the organization's board members and who has spent hours working on obtaining American non-profit status for the organization.  We also have had several of our project managers involved at various stages of Translators without Border's development, as well as our own Martin Green in multiple roles. More recently Dominic Spurlinghas contributed by helping out with the Translators without Borders new web site development.

We will continue to offer our skills and time to this worthy organization that is making information more accessible to all people of the world.  Nevertheless, there comes a point, where sweat alone will not suffice; I believe Translators without Borders is now at that stage.

It is our good luck at Rubric to work in an industry that transcends barriers thrown up by languages; a position which has also made me aware that many people are disadvantaged because they do not have the means to acquire knowledge trapped in another language -  often to their serious detriment. It is for this reason I think Translators without Borders aim is so laudable - the transfer of knowledge from one language to another.

It is for that reason that we are pleased to finanically support Translators without Borders through sponsorship.  I encourage others to do the same.
